"Slacker is excited to be introducing Shoudout's 'Social Music' platform to the listeners of the Pop Remix station," said Leo Abbe, chief entertainment officer for Shoudout Partners. And, at the same time, create a new advertising and revenue opportunity." Shoudout retains the spirit of call-in radio shoutouts, but uses technology to enhance the experience while creating a new way for people to connect. "Calling a radio station to dedicate a song to a friend, or cheer on a sports team, is based on a desire to engage with others by delivering a personal message. "Radio call-ins were an original form of social media," said Mike Bebel, EVP of corporate development and rights management for LiveXLive Media, Inc. Revenue will be split between the two companies. Brief micro-targeted advertisements air in conjunction with each Shoudout. The six-second Shoudouts, recorded and sent via the mobile Shoudout app, will be broadcast on the Slacker station within a specified time period. Shoudout improves on the concept by allowing listeners to broadcast messages to a pre-selected audience (or "crowd"), at any time, without competing against other callers for airtime. Shoudout was inspired by terrestrial radio "shout outs," the old school tradition of putting listeners who call in to radio stations with messages, dedications, and proclamations, on the air.
